Winter's Dream Challenge Quiet Forest
This tutorial is a team collaboration. You will need PSP7, this folder with the image, and this one with psp images. You will also need Eye Candy 3. Unzip the Graphic and PSP Images into a folder of your choice, place the tube in your tubes folder. Open the Graphic in PSP, duplicate and close the original. Remember to save your work often.
In the Layer Palette, right click on the background and duplicate. On your Copy of Background layer, set the Blend Mode to Difference and the Opacity to 57.
Right Click on your copy layer and choose New Adjustment Layer, Invert. Set Blend Mode to Dodge, and play with the opacity until you like the setting. (Note: Ravanne chose 90, TLC chose 84)
Click on Copy of Background to activate and select your deformation tool.
Holding down the CTRL Key, use your arrow keys to gently tap the key in the direction you want your background to move. Tap gently and no more than two or three taps, being careful not to blur or overdo it. You want to move the layer just enough to give the image a discreet embossed look. Click Apply in your Tool Options window. Merge Layers Visible and name it Background.
Open Animal 12.PSP (Bear) image and copy and paste as a New Layer. Images, Resize 75%, making sure Resize All Layers is UNChecked. Then Effects, Sharpen, Sharpen. Move the bear into a position of your choice. Copy and paste the Bear as a new layer again, this time resizing at 50% and following the same steps as for the first Bear. Close your Background layer and merge the two Bear layers visible. Apply Eye Candy 3 Perspective
Shadow using these settings:
Open your Background layer but keep the Bear layer active. Open Water.PSP and copy and paste as a new layer. Move into position. Merge all layers visible and go to Images, Canvas Size, New width 800, New Height 600, Centered Horizontally and Vertically. Take your Selection Tool, Circle, Feather 2, Antialias UNChecked and holding down the Shift Key, make selections in your graphic. Stay away from the edges. I started towards the center and worked my way around.
When you're happy with your selection go to Selections, Invert and hit your Delete key. Now, Selections, Invert, Float. Effects, 3D Effects, Inner Bevel, settings as shown and then Drop Shadow, settings as shown:
Selections, Modify, Contract 20 and apply the same Inner Bevel and Drop Shadow. Repeat once more, this time contracting 15. Selections, Select None. Zoom in (the tool just above the Deformation tool), and select your Retouch tool (the Hand). Carefully remove the dropshadow on the bear as shown below. Be very careful doing this, just a click at a time.
Now select your tubes tool, and setting the size at 35 add some sparkles randomly on your graphic. If you want to use the Base provided open it and copy and paste as a new layer and move into position. If you want to use your favorite Ding, add a new layer, select your text tool, foreground and background colors on white and add your Ding. Now you can add a Blade Pro Preset or fill of your choosing.
Take your Selection tool, set at Rectangle, 0 Feather and make a selection just around your image, then Images, Crop to Selection. Then Images, Resize 75%, Effects, Sharpen, Sharpen twice or Images, Resize Width 400 Px, Maintain Aspect Ratio Box Checked.
We hope you enjoy doing this. Ravanne did the wonderful layers and I learned something new. Linda did the Selections, Inner Bevel, Drop Shadow and Sparkles. Patches added the Bears and Eye Candy Perspective Shadow. I added the Base and pulled everything together. Be sure and check out the other team tutorials at the Team Spirit Tutorials website.
