Welcome to

Winter's Dream -- Happy Holidays

The Pixel Packers

Jon (Captain), amythyst, Sandi, Teresa

You will need PSP7 and this Zip file containing the image used, Aurora.jpg, Snapshot.msk, gradient, and holly tube.  Place the Mask in your Mask folder and the Gradient in your Gradient folder.  Put Polarbearcmas, Aurora, and the holly tube in a folder of your choice.

Open Polarbearcmas in PSP, Shift D to duplicate and close the original.  To begin with we need to change the image from background to a layer, so click the layer palette and right click on Background and click on Promote to Layer. Now what we are going to do is to remove the background, to do that you need to use the magic wand with match mode set to RGB Value, Tolerance 10, and Feather 0.  Click anywhere within the black of the background now that has only got some of the black so now we go Selections/Modify/Select Similar and hit delete.  Your black bits should have disappeared leaving you with an image looking like this:

Click Selections, Select None.  Now we need to get rid of the white snowballs so using the eraser set on Round, Size 50, Hardness, Opacity and Density set at 100, Step at 25 remove all the snowballs that you can get to. There are a couple of small ones so change the eraser to size 10 and then remove the last few.

Remember those noses, well we are now going to return them to black, create new layer, arrange, send to bottom.  Now with the noses layer active make a selection that includes both noses - rectangle is best - activate and flood fill the new layer with black and merge the layers.  Then click Selections, Select None.

Layer duplicate, image mirror.  Move both layers into position and merge visible.

Add a new layer.  Change your foreground color to gradient and select Red-Dark Green gradient, settings as shown:

Open your Aurora image and go to Masks, New, From Image, and select as shown:

Masks delete.  Yes when asked if want to merge.  Open your layer palette and lower the opacity of this layer to 75.

Add a layer and change the gradient to the gold and angle to 45 and select the same gradient and settings for your background color, same settings.  Select your text tool and using the font of your choice, add your message.  Keep selected, and add an inner bevel with settings shown, then a drop shadow, Color # 404040. V and H at 4 opacity at 76 blur 8.  Deselect.

Add a layer, change your gradient back the Red-Dark green, angle 180 and floodfill.  Masks, Load from Disk, select Snapshot.msk and have invert mask data UNChecked.  Mask delete. Layers, merge all, flatten.

Image, picture frame and add frame of your choice or Images, add borders, 20, floodfill with color of your choice and add an inner bevel.

Open your Holly tube and copy and paste as a new layer.  Image, rotate right, 180.  Layers, merge all, flatten.

Resize your image 50%.  Effects, Sharpen, Sharpen.

We hope you enjoyed doing this tutorial.
