A Country Croppers Tutorial

The team of fantastic people are:-

Steven, Patches, Teresa, and Angel as Captain

I would like to congratulate my team on a job beautifully done. :)

This is what we are making

You will need PSP7 and this Zip file,  The file contains the following,  background1.jpg, Spirit of the season.jpg, Jvm gold wire frame.tub,  Decoration - room2.tub, Fabric - Silk rose.tub, LadyonchairSM.psp, Frost.msk, Walnut.jpg, Border Fill.jpg and window pane.sel

Unzip the sel file to selections folder, and the msk file to the masks folder,  unzip the rest of the files including the tub file into a temporary folder, open in psp and minimize till needed.

Step 1. Open new image 600 x 600 (So you have plenty of room to work), transparent, resolution 72, 16.7 million colors. Check that your graphic is set at 16 million colors, by going to colors, then increase colors.

Step 2. Open Gold Window Frame.tub, copy and paste as new layer, then resize to 150%. Name this layer WindowFrame. Position the image close to the top, about 40 - 50 pixels from the top.

Step 3. Add New Raster layer (named chair rail drawn). Click on Draw tool (looks like a Pencil), set at 40 line width, Foreground color set to white, draw a line at the bottom of the window from side to side. Using the shift key will keep it straight. Deselect.

Step 4. With selection tool. Select the middle part of the white line from one edge of the window frame to the other. (I selected just to the half of the frame edge. Hit delete. Move this layer below WindowFrame layer. See line delete example below.

Step 5. With Chair Rail layer still selected add New Raster Layer (named wallpaper). Open background1.jpg and minimize. Click on Flood fill tool then on Styles, choose pattern and select background1 picture from list flood fill with wallpaper fill. Use selection tool set to rectangle. Select inside the rectangular part of the window. Be sure that you are on the layer with the wallpaper. Hit delete. Now move up to the top part of the window to begin clearing the wallpaper from the inside. I accomplished this by using the eraser tool with the following settings. Shape: round, Size: 15, Hardness: 100, Opacity: 100, Step: 25, Density: 100.

Step 6. With wallpaper being current layer add New Raster Layer (named chair rail filled). Click on Chair rail layer and select the white line, then click back onto Chair rail filled layer to activate it.  Open Walnut.jpg, click on Flood fill tool, go to Styles, Pattern, Walnut. Fill your white line with the wood fill set to 90 deg angle. Go to Effects, 3-D, Inner bevel with the following settings. It's a good idea to save settings in inner bevel so that you can use them for other projects. I name mine for the tutorial I'm doing. Do not Deselect.

Step 7. Keep the chair rail selected and do a drop shadow with the following settings. Vertical 0, Horizontal 0, Opacity 60, Blur 37, Color Black. Deselect.

Step 8. With current layer still active add New Raster layer, (named bottom panel). Click on layer 1 (bottom layer), use selection tool and make a rectangle from the bottom of the chair rail to the bottom of the image. Click on Bottom Panel Layer, Flood fill with the wood texture set at 0 angle. These are the Layers as they should be now. Created as set by Patches.

Picking up where Patches left off I'm going to show you how to add a
view and frost to your window

First let's add the view
Step 9:) Open the spirit of the season image and edit/copy

Step 10:) Switch back to the window image and go to the layer pallet and
make layer 1 active

Step 11:) Edit/paste as new selection and move what you just pasted around
till you like the view from the window

Now the frost
Step 12:) With the image you made thus far still open add a new raster layer name it frost

Step 13:) Go to masks/load from disk find the frost mask you downloaded
note: you won't see the mask unless you go to masks/view mask so I suggest you do that

Step 14:) Selection/load from disk use the window pane selection you downloaded DON'T deselect
until I tell you, the reason for this selection is so the next step only affects the window panes which look like this now.

Step 15:) Go to masks/edit (the color pallet will turn to white, black and shades of grey
and then effects/noise/add set to 50% now masks/edit again(your pallet should return to
it's normal colorful self)

Step 16:) Change the blend mode for the frost layer to overlay and lower the opacity to about 70 or
whatever looks good to you

Step17:) Get the paint bucket with foreground set to white flood fill the previously selected area
deselect

Picking up where Steven left off here are my instructions.

Now Edit/Paste as New Selection and position rose on the frame of the window where you like it and continue with Edit/Paste as New Selection until you have what you like be sure to put a rose at the top of the window on the tip of the Decoration.

Step22. Make a New Raster Layer name it Tree, Open your Tree - Christmas.tub, go to Image/Resize/ and increase the Height of the tree to 800, make sure that Maintain aspect ratio is checked.  Go to Edit/Copy.  Click on your layer named Tree, Click on Edit/Paste as New Selection, move the tree around till you have something that your happy with.

Step23. Click on Layer Palette right click on any layer go to Merge/Merge All Flatten. Now we make the frame, with white as your background color. go to Image/Add Borders, with symmetric checked type in 5.  Using Magic Wand select white border, then Effects/3D Effects/Inner Bevel use the settings below. Deselect.

Step24. Go back to Image/Add Borders this time type in 2, select new border with Magic Wand, go to Effects/Texture Effects/Sculpture at top of Sculpture screen click on Presets and choose Gold and use those settings. Deselect.

Step25. Again go to Image/Add Borders and type in 15. Open Border Fill.jpg. With Magic Wand tool select the border then Select Pattern from Styles Palette, select Border Fill from the Pattern Palette, with Scale at 100% and Angle at 45 Flood fill border with Pattern.

Step26. With border still selected go to Effects/Texture Effects/ Sandstone in the presets window choose Custom and use those settings.  Do not Deselect. Go to Effects/3D Effects/Inner Bevel use same settings as before which will still be showing.
