You will need the image
Reflections of the
Past-1997 graphic, the
sher_lightwood.jpg, Sparkle11 tub
and the
woodshutters.tub. Install
tubes by going to files/export/picturetube/tubename:woodshutters/click ok.
1. Open PSP/Files/Open
Reflections of the Past-1997.jpg
2. Go to Image/Resize and
choose 75%, Resize all layers/Maintain aspect ratio checked/hit ok (Do NOT
sharpen at this time)
3. Go to Layers/New Raster
Layer/Name it woodshutters. Click on tube tool and select
woodshutters and use these settings. Scale: 90%, Step:200 Apply tube to
center of graphic.

4. Click on deformation tool
and using your mouse, stretch each corner
to evenly over the entire graphic. Double click to apply the deformation
effect.
5. Go to your Layer Palette
and right click on Background/Promote to Layer. Right click and rename
this layer/graphic. Keep layer highlighted.
6. Toolbar/Layers/New Raster
Layer/name it: cabin wall. Go to your Layer Palette and using your mouse,
drag the layer called cabinwall to the bottom.
7. Keeping the cabinwall
layer highlighted/go to Image/Canvas and use these settings: New Width:
600 New Height: 350 Center horizontally and vertically Checked/click OK.
8. Open sher_lightwood.jpg/click
on foreground/patterns and select the wood/floodfill cabinwall layer.
9. Go to Effects/Texture
Effects/Blinds and use these settings: Width: 50 Opacity: 73
Horizontal: Checked Color: Black Light from top: Unchecked Click Ok.
Layers/Merge Visible
10. Make foreground color
white/click on airbrush tool and use these settings:

Starting from the farthest
edge on top of the shutters spray a line almost to the end.
11. Select Smudge tool (the
small hand) and use these settings:

Pull down as much snow
as you would like. Your image should now look like this:

12. Using the Magic
Wand, select the snow on the shutter on the left. Go to
Effects/Texture Effects/Soft Plastic and use these settings:
Blur - 20
Detail - 14
Density - 32
Angle - -45
Color - Light Purple
13. Now since nothing is
identical in Nature, using the Magic Wand again, click on the snow on the
right shutter and go to Effects/Texture again, but this time choose
Textures and from the drop down menu, choose one that reminds you of snow.
I chose #50 with these settings:
Smoothness - 16
Depth - 40
Ambience - 0
Shininess - 63
Color - White
Angle - 151
Intensity - 35
Elevation - 51
Click OK when you are
satisfied. Be brave and try effect on top of effect for a realistic
look.
14. Using the Selection
Tool, select the cross pain on the left side of the window

15. In this instance, we want
to apply the effect to all the crossbars, and we could do it one by one.
To save time though, hold down the Shift Key and select the opposite
crossbar. Now, continue on the long bars, again holding the Shift
Key as you select the bars. Remember to let go of the Shift Key at
the end of each selection. Marching ants should appear all along the
window crossbars.
16. Go to Effects/3d
Effects/Outer Bevel. From the drop down menu, choose Angled and
press OK. Do NOT deselect at this point!
17. Make sure your
Background Color is set to black, and again go to Effects/3d
Effects/Chisel. Now Go to Selections/Select None.
18. One more trip to
Effects/Sharpen/Sharpen More.
19. Now we are going to
brighten the moon some. Click on Effects/Illumination Effects/Sunburst. Use
these settings.

20. Click on layers, new raster layer. Name this layer 'sparkles'. Click
on your tube tool and the 'sparkle11' tube, scale: 30%, step: 100. Click
on each of the headlights on the car in the foreground.
21. Go to layers, merge, merge
all.
22. Hold down your Shift key and hit the D key 3 times to make a total of
4 copies of your image. Working on one copy at a time add a few sparkles
to each image in some of the windows in the village. Try to vary the
windows you use in each copy. Save each image, numbering them 1 through 4.
23. Launch Animation Shop. Click on the animation wizard. Check 'same size
as first image frame', next, 'transparent', next, 'centered in the frame'
and 'with the canvas color', next, 'yes repeat indefinitely', 60/100 of a
second, next, click 'add image' and add each of your four images. Click
next and then finish. You can view your animation by clicking on the film
clip icon at the top right of your animation program.
24. Go to file, save as, give it a name and be sure it is saving as a
.gif, click ok, I have my animation quality set for the first mark below
the top, click next, next, next, and finish.
