Garden Tutorial

Part I

This tutorial was made using PSP 7.0. This tutorial was designed as part of a group effort by Ravanne, Wizzard Jon, and Laurel as part of the Tutorials Made Easy Group.

Part I Courtesy of Ravanne:

1) Open image, and make a copy (Shift D) close your original image and work with the copy.

2) Double click on your Selection Tool in the box that opens input the following settings:
Left: 40
Right: 360
Top: 40
Bottom: 254

3) Go to Selection/Invert.

4) Next go to Effects/Plugins and select the Simple Filter/4-Way Average.

5) While keeping the selected area active, create a New Layer. Then using your Flood Fill Tool, fill the selection with a complementary colour from the main image. I used a dark red.

6) Next go to Effects/Plugins and select the Simple Filters/Half Wrap.

7) Go to Selections/Invert then go to Selections/Save to Alpha Channel. Deselect your image.

8) Make sure the new layer is active. Go to Effects/Texture Effects/Fine Leather. Select a cream color, and use the following settings:

    

9) Make the Background layer active. Then go to Selections/Load From Alpha Channel and load the selection you saved earlier. Then go to Effects/3D Effects/Drop Shadow. Apply the settings shown in the screen shot.

    

10) Deselect. And thats the end of part I.

 

Part II

Part II Courtesy of Wizzard Jon:

1) Open a new image 400x400. Next select the Tubes Tool and select the Autumn Leaves tube set at 10%. Insert the leaves into a transparent layer in a pie wedge shape. Narrow at the bottom and wider on the top. About half way up the image, increase the size of the tube to 20%. Next go to Effects/Geometric Effects/Twirl set at 67 degrees. See image below.

2) Copy (Control C) and Paste as a new layer (Control L) See image below.

3) To finish your image go to Image/Add Borders check the symmetric box and set at 10. Next using your Magic Wand selct the border. Next using your Dropper tool select a color from your image to coordinate with your previous floodfill. Then using your Flood Fill tool fill the border with the selected color.

4) With your image still selected go to Effects/3D Effects/Inner Bevel and apply the following settings: Smoothness - 0, Depth - 4, Ambience - -30, Shininess - 0, Width - 8, Angle - 315, Intensity - 50, Elevation - 50. Deselect your image.

5) Finally export your image through jpeg optimizer with a 30% compression value and you are done!
